The "Treasure of Words" Exhibition at Kiev National University "Taras Shevchenko"

On May 24th at the Institute for Philology Studies at Kiev National University opened the unique „Treasure of Words” exhibition, dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the Great Moravian Cyril and Methodius mission. The opening of the exhibition became a true celebration at the Department for Slavic Studies at KNU and met not only teachers and students, but also diplomats, scientists, researchers, representatives of various academic, cultural and social institutions in Kiev.

On April 10, 2013, in the Great Hall of the Institute for Literature the premiere of the collection in honor of Prof. Svetozar Igov "Spaces of speech" was held. The event was attended by many leading literary critics, writers, poets, teachers, students and friends of Professor Igov. Host of the event was Assos. Prof.Elka Traykova who introduced to the concept and history of the book, presented the wealth of research fields and approaches in the book, formed with a remarkable design idea. Professor Igov told precious memories of people and events of the literary life in Bulgaria, shared interesting ideas about the literary history and present.

“Even a century ago Professor Ivan Shishmanov understood that the salvation of European nations is in uniting their efforts to achieve peace and prosperity.” Vice President Margarita Popova made this statement during a lecture in Vienna, where she participated in the opening of the exhibition "Bulgaria in Europe" at the Institute for Slavic Studies at the University of Vienna. Organizers of the event were Bulgarian Embassy in Vienna and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute "Wittgenstein House."

Sanctuary of Words Еxhibition

The exhibition reveals the rich literary traditions of Bulgaria, showing the best examples of the written heritage from the late ninth to the fourteenth century. The origin of literature in the second half of the ninth century - one of the most significant events in the culture of Medieval Europe, is associated with the activity of the Slavonic brothers Constantine-Cyril and Methodius before their mission to Great Moravia in 863.

“Bulgaria: Treasure of Words”

On 27.02 the exhibition “Bulgaria: Treasure of Words” was opened at the European parliament in Brussels (Yehudi Menuhin Hall). The exhibition was realised by scientists from the Institute for Literature and with the support of Dr. Andrey Kovachev’s Bulgarian Memory Foundation.
